Michelle Carr, Ph.D.

Michelle Carr, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Associate in Psychiatry at the University of Rochester, and Assistant Director of the Sleep and Neurophysiology Research Laboratory. She studies the neurocognitive science of sleep, dreams and mental health, with particular interest in nightmare disorder and lucid dream therapy. Michelle has developed a network of researchers interested in dream engineering—new techniques and technologies designed to influence dreams to benefit mental health and wellbeing. She also promotes public appreciation for dream science through freelance work, including writing for Psychology Today.
